After forcing the Cardinals to go three and out on their first series, the Vikings took over and started moving the ball downfield. Then, on a third and long, Brett Favre was hit as he threw and had his pass intercepted by Cardinals’ safety Kerry Rhodes.
It appeared that Rhodes was going in for a long touchdown, but Vikings’ receiver Greg Camarillo never gave up on the play, chasing Rhodes down and stripping the ball away just before Rhodes got into the end zone. The ball bounced up, hit Rhodes in the face mask , and wound up rolling out of the end zone.
The result? A touchback and the Vikings’ ball at the 20-yard line rather than a 7-0 lead for the Cardinals.
Ten minutes left in the first quarter, and we’re still scoreless.
