Minneapolis Airport Closes; Opponents Charter Diverted To Kansas City

The New York Giants, who the Vikings will host this weekend. . .theoretically. . .left early this morning for their trip to Minneapolis. Unfortunately, all of the runways at Minneapolis/St. Paul airport were closed at roughly 11:30 AM Central time due to the blizzard that the Twin Cities are going through at the moment.

As a result, the Giants' team charter has been diverted to Kansas City, where the team will be stranded until the runways re-open at MSP, whenever that might be. League spokesman Greg Aiello said via Twitter than the league is still shooting for a noon Central time kickoff between the Vikings and the Giants, even if that means the Giants arriving in Minneapolis in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
