Fox Sports Week 16 NFL Power Rankings: A Slight Move Down For Minnesota

Finally, somebody that hasn’t gone at least a little bit crazy. The folks at Fox Sports have moved the Vikings down a notch in their Power Rankings, slotting them down at number 26 this week after putting them 25th the week before.

However, the folks at Fox have not made their commentary centered on Brett Favre, but they’ve chosen an unusual target, in my opinion.

One of the biggest disappointments for the Vikings this season has to be their defense. And an even bigger mystery has been veteran DE Jared Allen’s drop-off in production.

See, this I don’t get. . .yes, Allen got off to an incredibly slow start this year, but has picked it up quite a bit in recent weeks, having gotten his sack total for the year up to 10.5. Granted, he might not match the 14.5 sacks he had in each of his first two years with Minnesota, but the entire defense has had a rough go of it this year, not just Allen. Honestly, with as many problems as the Minnesota defense has, a guy with 10.5 sacks is the least of their worries.
