The best running back in the National Football League has given the Vikings a two touchdown lead with a career long touchdown run.
One play after a touchback on a Detroit punt, Adrian Peterson took a handoff over the right side, stiff-armed Lions’ safety C.C. Brown into next week’s game, and took the ball 80 yards for a Vikings’ touchdown.
The 80-yard run was the longest of Peterson’s career. His previous long was a 73-yarder against the Chicago Bears in 2007.
With a little less than four minutes left in the third quarter, the Vikings lead the Lions 24-10.
