The playoff weekend of regular season rematches continues with Saturday's prime time offering, which will see the Green Bay Packers make a trip down south to take on the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome.
↵Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 7:00 PM Central time, and you'll be able to watch the game on Fox.
↵The Packers. . .as per usual. . .were the beneficiaries of some very good fortune last weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles, as David Akers missed two field goals to aid a 21-16 Packers victory.
↵The Falcons, as the #1 seed in the NFC, took this past weekend off to rest and prepare for this match-up.
↵This is a re-match of a game that took place in Week 12 in Atlanta, a game that was won by the Falcons by a score of 20-17. The Packers appeared to have forced overtime on a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Jordy Nelson, but a penalty on the ensuing kickoff. . .a face mask so egregious that five different officials threw their flags at the play. . .gave the Falcons great field position, and Matt Ryan and company were able to turn it into a 47-yard Matt Bryant field goal to come away with the victory.
↵Saturday's game will mark only the third time that the Packers have traveled to Atlanta in the last 18 years. Don't you just love the NFL's "balanced schedule?"
↵If the Falcons win this game, they will host the NFC Championship Game next weekend against the winner of Sunday's game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears. Should Green Bay win, they will be traveling to either Chicago or Seattle for that game.
