Brett Favre Officially Files Retirement Paperwork

Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com and Sirius NFL Radio is reporting this morning that Minnesota Vikings' quarterback Brett Favre has officially filed his retirement paperwork with the league.

As we all know, this is the third time that Favre has retired, but only the second time he has submitted the paperwork to the league for that purpose. He did not submit the paperwork after the 2007 season when he played for the Packers, but he did file it after his 2008 season with the New York Jets. Also, unlike in those two seasons, Favre has given absolutely zero indication that he has any desire to return to the NFL after completing his 20th season.

Still, I'm sure there will be no shortage of rumors and speculation that Favre will be returning for a 21st season in the NFL in 2011. . .provided there's even a 2011 season. None of them will really have any merit or any basis in reality, but the rumors will be there in any case.
