Donovan McNabb Plans To Start Next Week

Sunday night's 39-10 blowout at the Chicago Bears has ignited the inevitable quarterback controversy for the Minnesota Vikings. Donovan McNabb's ineffective play led Christian Ponder, Minnesota's first round selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, to earn his first career regular season action. Ponder was 9 of 17 for 99 yards int he blowout. Incumbent starter McNabb insisted that there is not a controversy this morning:

Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb said he expects to start next Sunday even though Leslie Frazier replaced him with Christian Ponder in the fourth quarter with the Bears up 39-10.

Unfortunately for McNabb, the fans disagree with him. A poll conducted by the Minneapolis Star Tribune was overwhelmingly in favor of ponder getting his first career start when the Vikings play the defending Super Bowl Champion Green bay packers int heir next game. Over 85% of respondents felt that Ponder should be named the starter and that the 1-5 Vikings should start playing for the long-term future.
