Lawmakers Will Propose For Vikings To Buy Metrodome For $1

No, there are no zeros missing in that headline. Nobody wants the Metrodome and Governor Mark Dayton and Vikings' owner Zygi Wilf want a new stadium in Arden Hills, a Minneapolis suburb.

In an effort to sway the team, though, lawmakers are going to put on the table on Friday for the Vikings to buy the Metrodome for a whole dollar [via FOX9.com]:

Even though the Metrodome has a brand new roof, no one seems to want the old joint no matter the cost. So, why not give it away? That's exactly what Democratic Sen. John Marty and Republican Rep. Linda Runbeck will propose on Friday.

The plan would give the Metrodome to the team for a nominal fee, like a dollar. A similar bill was introduced a few years ago, but never made it out of committee.

Gov. Dayton doesn't think this is going to change the situation and a Vikings' spokesperson said it's simply distracting 'the only viable plan' of constructing a stadium in Arden Hills.

But, hey, if the Vikings don't want it, I know a guy who would be willing to open up his piggybank.
