Week 8 NFL Power Rankings: Vikings Drop After Showing Promise In CBS Sports Rankings

The trend following Minnesota's game against the Packers has been to hold them steady in NFL power rankings. ESPN held them, but others are taking an odd approach, in this writer's opinion. Some of the bigger rankings are actually dropping the Vikings following their loss to the Packers. Now, following a loss, that's understandable, but the nature of the loss - a close affair to the undefeated Packers, should be taken into consideration, no?

CBS Sports drops them one spot in their Week 8 rankings:

28. They made the right move to go to Christian Ponder, even though they didn't beat the Packers. He seems to have the right stuff.

They're right - the move to go to Ponder is indeed the right one, and the team is undoubtedly better because of it. Donovan McNabb wasn't getting anything done as the starter and Ponder has lit a fire under that offense. Shouldn't that mean they at least hold? Maybe even go up?
