Week 8 NFL Power Rankings: FOX Sports Raises Vikings Three Spots

Sitting at 1-6 and coming off a loss, the Minnesota Vikings have been holding steady in most Week 8 NFL power rankings. They've been dropped in one and held in others, but none of them have really gave them props, especially in the form of an increase. Christian Ponder started the game in place of Donovan McNabb and almost led the Vikings to a win over the undefeated Green Bay Packers. Surely that kind of outcome is worthy of an increase, right?

FOX Sports raised them by three points in their latest rankings:

26. Very impressed with Christian Ponder, albeit in a loss with rookie-like numbers. Remember that he, of all the drafted QBs, came out of the most pro-ready offense. The Vikings are doing the right thing developing him and must start thinking about the next step: What else has to develop for next year?

That's Brian Billick talking, if you didn't know, Billick is definitely on the right track here: Ponder is leading this offense in a way that makes the more dangerous and, thus, a bigger threat to other teams on the power ranking list. Even if they're not suddenly playoff-bound, they are undoubtedly a better team right now and they deserve to go up.
