Madden NFL 12 Roster Updates: Jared Allen Gets To 98 For Vikings

The Week 8 roster update for Madden NFL 12 is set to go live for Xbox 360 and PS3 users on Friday. For the Minnesota Vikings, it actually sees an increase of more players than decreases, despite a loss to the Green Bay Packers. It's likely because the Vikings played really well and held the lead on more than one occasion, threatening to take away the Green Bay unbeaten streak. It wasn't to happen, but it did spark an offense that was really, really lethargic through its first six games.

Christian Ponder is the big riser, though it's only by a couple of points. It's good that the Madden folks are realizing his ability early on and not playing skeptical. Ponder came in and did everything that Donovan McNabb had failed to do this season and he should be rewarded for it. For a full list of changes for the Vikings, make the jump.

Increases

QB Christian Ponder 73 to 75
WR Michael Jenkins 77 to 79
DL Jared Allen 96 to 98

Decreases

CB Asher Allen 70 to 69

Changes

WR Bernard Berrian released
CB Chris Cooks removed from depth chart (suspension)
WR Michael Jenkins moved to WR #2 on depth chart
WR Stephen Burton moved to WR #5 on depth chart
CB Asher Allen moves to CB #3

Again, the Ponder increase is significant. If he keeps playing well, there will be more increases to come. Jared Allen is playing out of his mind, and he still is flying under the radar for some reason. He should have reclaimed that 98 ranking way before week 8, and I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it to 99 before the season is over. For a list of changes for every team, head here.
