The hometown Minnesota Vikings are one of four teams on bye this week in the NFL along with the Lions, Panthers, and Jaguars. That means many fantasy owners lucky enough to own Adrian Peterson are likely looking for a replacement as the star running back has a week off. This late int he season there are often few true sleepers around, but if you look hard enough some replacements can be found for a week. Here are a few possible pickups:
Javon Ringer - Yes, he is Chris Johnson's backup in Tennessee, but the third year player out of Michigan State is now splitting carries with Johnson and had a season-high 60 yards last week. Though he may be a bad choice this week against a stout Cincinnati run defense, he is quickly surpassing Johnson in playing time.
Kregg Lumpkin - The former Georgia running back should see increased carries this weeks with the Buccaneers coming off of a bye and LeGarrette Blount hampered by a knee injury Lumpkin will likely see increased work for Tampa. Lumpkin can add a receiving threat out of the backfield as well, especially against a pretty bad Saints defense this week.
Curtis Brinkley - San Diego has serious running back issues right now, and Brinkley will likely get the start in their active offense if he can recover from a concussion this week. The Chargers will likely use him extensively at home against the Packers.
