Minnesota Vikings cornerback Benny Sapp was cited for misdemeanor assault on Friday after an altercation with security at Children's Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.
Reportedly, Sapp was trying to drop off his son with his wife who was visiting at patient at the hospital but security officers weren't ready to allow Sapp to skirt security regulations to park near the hospital entrance for the quick exchange. Minneapolis police were eventually called in to clean up the mess.
"Mr. Sapp pushed one of the security officers and drove his vehicle toward the exit of the ramp, where there was another confrontation with a security officer standing in front of the vehicle," Palmer said.
Sapp "chest-bumped" the officer before getting back into his vehicle and trying to drive past the officer, Palmer said, adding "there was no indication the vehicle touched the security officer."
Sapp has been playing through a shoulder injury for the Vikings but this incident may impact his availability for Sunday's season-ending game against the Chicago Bears.
