Minnesota Vikings 2011 NFL Draft: Pagac Excited To Get Ballard

It's nice when people are complimentary of you when you're selected in the National Football League draft. It's even nicer when you're complimented by the defensive coordinator of the team that just selected you.

Vikings' defensive coordinator Fred Pagac seems to be very happy with the Vikings' selection of Iowa's Christian Ballard in the fourth round of this year's National Football League draft, according to a statement he gave to the Vikings' official website.

“He’s a total player,” Vikings defensive coordinator Fred Pagac said when I asked what he liked about Ballard in evaluating the University of Iowa product. “He comes from a program that plays good defense and produces a lot of NFL players and we’re excited about getting him.”

On a conference call, Ballard has said that the Vikings have told him that he will most likely be playing on the interior of the Vikings' defensive line, and that he's bulked up to between 290 and 295 pounds after weighing in at 285 at the NFL Scouting Combine.
