Minnesota Vikings 2011 NFL Draft: Vikings Select Utah CB Brandon Burton

The Vikings have addressed their need in the secondary with the first of their two fifth-round selections in the 2011 National Football League Draft.

Minnesota has tabbed Brandon Burton, a 6', 190-pound cornerback out of the University of Utah, to be their selection with the 139th overall pick of the league's annual selection meeting.

This past season, Burton had two interceptions and seven passes defended, as opposing teams spent a lot of time throwing away from him due to his coverage abilities. The scouting reports on Burton say that he's a solid tackler and an outstanding athlete. He also has some potential on special teams, as he had this blocked field goal to help the Utes knock off their rivals from BYU in the game that has been dubbed the "Holy War."

Brandon is regarded as someone that has somewhat raw coverage skills, but it looks like he's got a world of potential, and was a third-round selection on many boards.

Yes, another good pick for the Minnesota Vikings. . .they're having a pretty fine draft so far, in this writer's opinion.
