St. Charles Native Nessler Named NFL Network Play-By-Play Voice

To the delight of many, we will not be hearing the voices of Joe Theismann and Matt Millen on broadcasts of Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network any more.

↵

Theismann and Millen, as well as currently play-by-play man Bob Papa, will be replaced this season in the NFL Network booth by Brad Nessler and Mike Mayock. Nessler will provide the play-by-play calls, while Mayock will fill the role of the analyst.

↵

Nessler, who was born in St. Charles and graduated from Minnesota State University, is best known for his work on ESPN's college football telecasts, a role he has filled since 1992. He also served as the voice of the Minnesota Vikings for the 1988 and 1989 seasons before moving on to CBS prior to joining ESPN.

↵

Mayock is also known to Vikings fans, as he has provided color commentary for telecasts of the team's pre-season games for the past few seasons. He is also the provider of a great deal of insight during the NFL Network's coverage of the NFL Draft, as well as many other spots in the NFL Network lineup.

↵

The NFL Network broadcasts eight games, most of them coming on Thursday nights during the second half of the season.

Congratulations to Mr. Nessler and Mr. Mayock on their new gigs.
