Vikings Wrap Up Pre-Season Tonight

Follow the Vikes with a live game thread over at The Daily Norseman.

The Minnesota Vikings end the 2011 pre-season tonight, and there are a few intriguing storylines as the Houston Texans come to town.  Most, if not all of the starter positions have been determined, but there are several positions down the down on the depth chart that still need to be decided.

On offense, WR is probably the one position that is still the most unsettled.  The first three positions have been long settled, with Michael Jenkins, Bernard Berrian, and Percy Harvin secure.  But the fourth and fifth spots are between Greg Camarillo, Jaymar Johnson, Emmanuel Arcenaux, Devon Aromashodu, and Stephen Burton.

Donovan McNabb is the starting QB, but the battle for second string will be decided tonight between rookie Christian Ponder and second year guy Joe Webb.

On defense, CB is a position that has been fascinating to watch for the Vikings.  Like the WR position, the first three slots are secure, as Antoine Winfield, Chris Cook, and Cedric Griffin has those spots nailed down.  But unheralded second year guy Marcus Sherels has had the most impressive camp of any player, and is pushing Asher Allen for the nickel spot, and Cord Parks has made a strong push for s roster spot as well.
