Lions At Vikings: Minnesota Scores First, Leads 3-0

The Vikings got off to a decent start against the Detroit Lions on their first drive of the afternoon, driving the ball down the field and converting a Ryan Longwell field goal attempt for a 3-0 lead.

The Vikings started out at their own 23-yard line on the drive, and the highlight of the drive was a big 43-yard run by Adrian Peterson to get the Vikings down to Detroit's 20-yard line. Unfortunately, a sack of Donovan McNabb on first and goal put the Vikings behind the eight ball, and they were unable to get any closer to the end zone.

Longwell then came in and hit a field goal from 33 yards out for a 3-0 Minnesota lead. The Vikings' scoring drive went 63 yards in 12 plays, taking 5:22 off of the clock in the process.

With 9:38 left in the first quarter at the Metrodome, the Minnesota Vikings lead the Detroit Lions by a score of 3-0.
