NFL power rankings, Week 8: Vikings moving in to top 10

The Minnesota Vikings find themselves in the top ten of most power rankings around the Internet for Week 8.

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

The Minnesota Vikings have won more games than they did a season ago, and it's only Week 8. They're 5-2 on the season, and coming off a win over the Arizona Cardinals. Few saw them being at this point, but they're getting plenty of respect in the weekly power rankings, regardless.

Ryan Van Bibber of SB Nation has the Vikings at No. 9 in his Week 8 power rankings, up one spot from last week:

9. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 10, 5-2): I know, I had to check this twice, putting the Vikings in the top 10. The record speaks for itself, and those wins are not flukes.

SB Nation has had the Vikings higher than most other rankings around the Internet this season, but it seems like the other sites are beginning to catch up. ESPN moved the Vikings up a spot to No. 9 as well, citing Adrian Peterson as a reason for success now and going forward.

CBS Sports also has the Vikings at No. 9 , and they also talk about Peterson and mention how Christian Ponder can't have another bad game like he did against Arizona. Brian Billick of FOX Sports had the Vikings moving up four spots in his rankings, at No. 8, further than any of the rankings around the Internet.
