Adrian Peterson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after he rushed 23 times for 153 yards and a touchdown versus the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday. This is the sixth time in his career that Peterson has earned the Player of the Week honor.
Peterson also caught two balls out of the backfield for 4 yards versus Arizona. Peterson's 153 yards rushing was a season-high and the 23 carries was the most since his 25 carries in a Week 3 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Peterson has appeared in all seven games for the Vikings this season despite struggling with an ankle injury that has caused him too miss practice in each of the last two weeks. Peterson has rushed 136 times for 652 yards and three touchdowns through seven games this season.
With Peterson and backup Toby Gerhart sharing the rushing load, the Vikings are averaging 132.3 yards per game on the ground which ranks seventh in the league.
