The Minnesota Vikings started the season ranked as one of the bottom teams in the NFL. They struggled with the Jacksonville Jaguars out of the gate, and lost to the Indianapolis Colts after that, but have since put together some very impressive wins. They handed the San Francisco 49ers their only loss of the season, bested the Detroit Lions and stomped the Tennessee Titans most recently to get to 4-1 on the season.
As such, they're pretty high in the weekly power rankings. SB Nation's Joel Thorman placed them at No. 7 in his rankings, up four spots from No. 11 last week:
7. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 11, 4-1): So, this is what it's come to, huh? The No. 7 ranking for Minnesota. I don't know what else to do -- they really do seem this good. They can win a lot of games if the defense is holding teams under two touchdowns.
Other power rankings around the Internet have the Vikings moving up more than Thorman pushed them up in his, but that's more so because of the fact that they gave the Vikings less credit last week. ESPN has them at No 8 in their rankings, up six spots and citing their ability to both stop the run and run themselves. NFL.com's official rankings has the Vikings at No. 8 as well, up five spots. CBS Sports shares the sentiment with them at No. 8 as well.
