While Christian Ponder's stat line against the Chicago Bears on Sunday wasn't very pretty, he didn't get a lot of help from his receivers.
Ponder completed just 22 of 43 passes against the Bears but, as named by 1500 ESPN, Viking receivers dropped six passes on Sunday. Wide receiver Jerome Simpson dropped three of the passes, including a crucial third-down conversion attempt early in the game.
Following the struggle to catch the ball, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said the team will put an extra emphasis on catching the ball in practice this week. Frazier said the number of dropped passes Minnesota had on Sunday was unacceptable. The Vikings will go back to work on some fundamentals in an effort to curb the issue.
Simpson has struggled in his first season in Minnesota, but Frazier said he knows he has proven he can catch the football. Instead, Frazier said it's important to focus on the current plays and not let previous drops or other mishaps affect the next play.
