With a must-win game in Week 15 against St. Louis looming large, the Minnesota Vikings listed a total of 12 players on their official injury report to begin the week.
Among a group of six players limited by injuries on Wednesday were running back Adrian Peterson and tight end Kyle Rudolph, even though both men suited up in full for a pivotal Week 15 win over Chicago. Peterson continues his chase to history with a 2,000-yard rushing season well within reach with only three games remaining, but was slowed on Wednesday by an abdomen injury according to Judd Zulgad of 1500ESPN.com.
While the return of cornerback Chris Cook continues to draw closer, the Vikings were once again short-handed at the position on Wednesday due to a concussion suffered by A.J. Jefferson on Sunday. Jefferson continues to improve and will be re-evaluated later in the week, but also joined fellow starting corner Antoine Winfield as an inactive to open the week.
One of four players to practice fully on Wednesday despite an injury, Vikings defensive end Jared Allen appears poised to reach double figures in sacks for the sixth consecutive season. The 30-year-old Allen did not record a sack against the Bears in Week 14, but sits just one away from the milestone with three games remaining. Although he has been hampered by a handful of significant injuries, the Pro Bowl pass rusher has yet to miss a game since arriving in Minnesota before the 2008 season.
