Christian Ponder and the Minnesota Vikings got off to a quick start Sunday, scoring a touchdown on their first drive of the game. Ponder completed all three of his pass attempts on the drive and also scrambled to convert a fourth down inside the Rams 10.
Adrian Peterson was stuffed several times on the possession, but Ponder was able to cap things off with a five-yard touchdown run. He caromed off a Rams player during the scramble, got his balance back and dove into the end zone.
"I just kind of reacted," Ponder said. "I didn't get pulled down and luckily was able to make a play. Someone else ran right in front of me. I think they were covering Adrian or somebody, and I think they could have easily made the tackle but didn't and was able to score."
After St. Louis evened the score at seven, Minnesota reeled off 26 unanswered points to take control of the game. The Vikings improved to 8-6 with the victory, which helped keep their playoff hopes alive.
