NFL Mock Draft 2012: SB Nation Again Gives Matt Kalil To Minnesota Vikings

Another day, another mock draft, another selection of Matt Kalil to the Minnesota Vikings.

The new weekly SB Nation 2012 NFL Mock Draft is out once again, and this time it's a lot less interesting than a few of the past ones had been, when teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins were being rumored to want to snag Minnesota's third overall selection in order to pick up Robert Griffin III before the Cleveland Browns could get to him. It's looking more and more likely that it will be St. Louis' second overall pick that gets traded up to rather than Minnesota's third, leaving them alone and with Matt Kalil on the board.

Kalil still has improvements to make in his game. Even with some professional growth ahead of him, he is still the best offensive tackle in the draft. His natural ability in pass protection will improve the life of Vikings' quarterbacks considerably. As he learns the fine art of run blocking in the NFL, he should round into Pro Bowl shape.

There will likely be some big shake ups in the draft standings internet-wide after the madness that is the NFL Combine is all said and done. Even then, unless something very drastic happens with other top five prospects, expect for Kalil to start getting sharpeed into the draft books rather than penciled for the Vikings. It's just the smartest move for Minnesota to make, getting the third best player in the draft with their third overall pick.
