Super Bowl XLVI First Quarter Update: Giants Hold 9-0 Lead Over Patriots

The first quarter of Super Bowl XLVI is in the books, and the New York Giants hold a 9-0 lead over the New England Patriots.

As we reported earlier, Eli Manning has been on fire, completing all nine of his passes thus far for 77 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown strike to Victor Cruz. The Giants have a massive time of possession advantage thus far, having held the ball for over eleven minutes, but the Patriots are moving the ball nicely, as they have the ball with a 1st-and-10 from the Giants' 17-yard line as we start the second quarter.

The Patriots have faced significant deficits in other games this season, as they trailed the Miami Dolphins 17-0 at halftime in Week 16 and were down to the Buffalo Bills 21-0 in Week 17. New England recovered to win both games.

A minute into the second quarter of play in Indianapolis, the New York Giants lead the New England Patriots, 9-0, in Super Bowl XLVI.
