Super Bowl XLVI Score Update: Steven Gostkowski Gets New England On The Board

The New England Patriots had a promising drive going that spanned from the end of the first quarter to the start of the second quarter, but the New York Giants' defense stiffened up when it had to.

To start the second quarter, Tom Brady and company had a 1st-and-10 from the Giants' 17-yard line. However, the Giants only got six more yards after that, and had to settle for a 29-yard field goal from Steven Gostkowski to cut the New York lead to 9-3.

Brady has not had quite as strong a performance as Eli Manning thus far, having completed 4-of-5 passes for 43 yards after giving up a safety on the Patriots' first play from scrimmage. The Patriots' drive went 60 yards in 10 plays, taking 4:36 off of the clock.

Early in the second quarter of play in Super Bowl XLVI, the New York Giants lead the New England Patriots by a score of 9-3.
