2012 NFL Draft Results: Josh Robinson Selected By Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings drafted another player that they feel can be an immediate contributor by tabbing University of Central Florida cornerback Josh Robinson with the 66th overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Robinson was a pretty productive player for the Golden Knights, but he really wowed scouts at the 2012 NFL Combine by putting up the fastest 40-yard dash time, blistering the track at 4.33 seconds. He also had the best showing of all defensive backs at the Combine in the broad jump and the three-cone drill while finishing third in the vertical leap category.

He was a two-time all-Conference USA first-teamer, and racked up 10 interceptions and 36 passes defended over the course of the past two seasons. Robinson also developed into a very good punt returner at UCF, averaging 15.2 yards a return as a sophomore in 2010. He has also shown to be durable, playing in all 38 games he was eligible for in his three-year career in Central Florida.

This appears to be a very good pick for the Vikings, as Robinson can likely contribute immediately as a return specialist and work his way into the lineup as a cornerback. It seems that he'd be better in the type of zone scheme that the Vikings tend to favor rather than a man-based scheme.

Robinson has very impressive physical attributes, and has everything it takes to develop into a solid cornerback for the Vikings in the future.
