The Minnesota Vikings opened rookie minicamp on Friday. Two practices is a little early to start anointing 2012 starters, but a handful of players stood out on their first day wearing a Vikings uniform. Among those getting rave reviews was cornerback Josh Robinson, a 3rd-round pick in last week's draft.
Robinson, according to the Vikings official page, flashed the speed that attracted scouts. He also demonstrated an ability to cover.
The Vikings' two defensive backs from Notre Dame also used the occasion to put on a show. Robert Blanton, a 5th-round pick, showed "energy, size and instincts" in practice. His college teammate and the Vikes' 1st-round pick, Harrison Smith, looked equally as sharp.
Undrafted rookie receiver Kamar Jorden made a couple of highlight-reel catches and fired off the line well.
