John Carlson Injury: Vikings Think It Could Have Been Much Worse

Minnesota Vikings tight end John Carlson is expected to miss the next two weeks of training camp with a sprained knee.

After some of his teammates re-watched the pile-up where he got hurt, there was a sense that he was fortunate to have gotten away with a relatively minor injury, via Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN:

"John got his leg out of the pile just in time," Kyle Rudolph said on Wednesday.

"Anytime you get away with a sprain, it's scary," Rudolph said. "You've got all these big bodies diving around the pile, and he got his leg up just in time."

Carlson's injury took place on Tuesday. He's expected to be ready for Minnesota's September 9 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
