Vikings Training Camp: Jared Allen Says There's No Rivalry Between Him And Matt Kalil

At Minnesota Vikings training camp, the Jared Allen/Matt Kalil matchup has become a story. And no wonder -- it's the No. 1 rookie offensive lineman going up against one the league's best pass-rushers every day.

Allen, though, says that within the team, there's no rivalry to speak of, via Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

"You guys are really trying to hype up this Kalil thing," Allen told reporters Wednesday, Aug. 1. "I don't play him this season and he doesn't play me. We're going to continue to improve as each day goes, but it's just a healthy competition trying to work together. There's times he'll win, there's time I'll win. It's not on me to prepare him to play on Sundays. If I'm going through my process, he's going to get better."

This comes a day after Allen said he'd rather not come off the field for a "hockey-style" defensive line rotation.
