Adrian Peterson might be the story at Minnesota Vikings training camp this week, but Minnesota fans are going to have to wait at least one more week to see him play.
The star running back, who returned to practice earlier this week just eight months removed from tearing his ACL, MCL, and meniscus, will not play in Friday's exhibition game against the Buffalo Bills at the Metrodome. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier told reporters that the team's defenders have been reminded to avoid contact with Peterson's surgically repaired knee while he gradually adds reps.
Meanwhile, Frazier has indicated that a number of players kept out of last week's exhibition opener against San Francisco, including defensive end Jared Allen, cornerback Antoine Winfield, and wide receiver Percy Harvin, will play against Buffalo, if only for a quarter or two.
"Our goal is to try to get [the starters] at least through the first quarter and maybe part of the second quarter as well," the second-year head coach said.
