In order to comply with the NFL's roster limitations, the Vikings were forced to release 15 players on Saturday. Teams had to whittle their rosters down to 75 men by Monday. The roster will be trimmed again at least once more before the regular season begins to get down to the 53-man roster limit.
Minnesota's first round of roster cuts didn't feature anyone particularly surprising, though the release of former CFL standout Solomon Elimimian and former UCLA Bruins running back Derrick Coleman may have surprised a few of the diehards.
A full list of cuts is included below:
G Bridger Buche
RB Derrick Coleman
G Grant Cook
LB Solomon Elimimian
DB Corey Gatewood
OT Levi Horn
DT Anthony Jacobs
WR Kamar Jorden
WR AJ Love
LB Tyler Nielsen
DE Ernest Owusu
DT Tydreke Powell
DB Chris Stroud
WR Kerry Taylor
WR Bryan Walters
The Vikings' next action comes on Aug. 30 when they travel to Reliant Stadium to take on the Houston Texans in their fourth and final preseason game. The regular season begins for Minnesota on Sept. 9 when the Vikings host the Jacksonville Jaguars at Mall of America Field.
