The Minnesota Vikings have moved up a few spots in NFL power rankings from around the web following their 26-23 overtime victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Vikings may have moved up a few spots, but an overtime win over the Jags at home still didn't earn them much respect from the various rankers.
In Joel Thorman's power rankings at SB Nation, the Vikings rose up from 27th to 24th:
24. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 27, 1-0): Adrian Peterson is back, which means I can take Minnesota out of the running for the No. 1 overall pick next year.
Thorman bumped the Vikings up three spots, but his only analysis was that they weren't the worst team in the NFL.
The Vikes didn't get much love elsewhere either. At ESPN they climbed two spots, up from 30th to 28th. And in the rankings from the National Football Post, the Vikings made their biggest movement, a five-spot leap up from 30th to 25th.
Brian Billick of FOX Sports summed up what everyone else was thinking as he moved the Vikings up four spots from 29th to 25th:
Adrian Peterson made for a great storyline, but beating the Jags in OT at home is nothing to brag about. This team isn't very good and every other team in their division could make a case to win the division.
At the top of the rankings there are some discrepancies, but the Patriots are ranked first in all but the SB Nation rankings (which has the Ravens on top). The Ravens, 49ers, and Patriots comprise the top three for all four mentioned sites in one order or another.
