49ers Vs. Vikings: Vernon Davis A Tough Matchup For Minnesota

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is a nightmare for a lot of opposing teams with his imposing size and wide-receiver speed. That should hold true for the Minnesota Vikings, who could have a big problem trying to cover the elite skill position player.

Davis has only eight catches over two games for the 49ers (2-0), but three of those have been for touchdowns. He'll be problematic for the Vikings, writes Sam Monson:

The Vikings don't have anybody who can match up with him one-on-one, and so the only way to limit his success would be to suffocate the big tight end with tighter zones than they have been playing. The 49ers like to use Davis to attack deep. The Vikings blew a big play deep between zones last week against the Colts. Can they prevent Davis from getting another this week?

Davis has come a long way since being kicked off the sideline and sent to the locker room at Candlestick Park by former 49ers coach Mike Singletary. He's grown up, and he's gotten better as a player.
