Vikings Roster Cuts: Minnesota Sticking With 3 Young Quarterbacks

By cutting Sage Rosenfels, the Minnesota Vikings have left themselves with just three young quarterbacks heading into the 2012 regular season.

Christian Ponder is the clear starter, of course, with Joe Webb as the backup and free-agent signee McLeod Bethel-Thompson as the No. 3. As for why Minnesota would go with a young guy over a veteran, coach Leslie Frazier said it was Bethel-Thompson's upside that was most appealing, according to the Star Tribune.

"You never know in our business," Frazier said. "You know, right now Joe Webb is our No. 2 quarterback. We're hoping that Joe will continue to progress and get better, but we're going to give Bethel every chance to develop into a good NFL quarterback."
