Jaguars At Vikings: Jacksonville Gets On Board First, Leads 3-0

We are underway at the Metrodome in the season opener between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Minnesota Vikings, and the visitors have gotten on the board first.

The Vikings managed one first down on their opening drive, when Christian Ponder found Kyle Rudolph for 14 yards on the first play from scrimmage. They had to punt shortly thereafter, however, and the Jaguars marched the ball down the field. Jacksonville, behind quarterback Blaine Gabbert, converted four consecutive third downs on the drive, and they pushed the ball inside the Minnesota 5-yard line.

The Vikings defense stiffened up from there, however, and the Jaguars had to settle for a 19-yard field goal from kicker Josh Scobee to take an early 3-0 lead. The team dodged a bullet when Gabbert missed a wide open Justin Blackmon in the end zone, so they should be happy to have only given up three points.

Jacksonville's drive covered 77 yards in 17 plays, and took 9:22 off of the clock.

With just under three minutes left in the first quarter of play, the Jacksonville Jaguars lead the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 3-0.
