Further confirmation the NHL lockout isn't going away any time soon came on Tuesday, when Minnesota Wild forward Devin Setoguchi officially signed with the Ontario Reign of the East Coast Hockey League, as reported by Helene Elliott of the LA Times, via Twitter.
The Reign are based out of California, a place Setoguchi is familiar with, as he played with the San Jose Sharks before being traded to the Wild as part of a few high profile deals between the teams. He came to the Wild at the start of last season in a deal that saw Brent Burns go to the Sharks.
Setoguchi isn't the first player to sign with another team during the lockout, but few have joined up with the ECHL, which is considered something of a minor league in comparison to some of the other overseas leagues. He registered 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points in 69 games with the Wild last season.
