Wild Vs. Sharks: Minnesota Earns Critical 4-3 Victory

The Minnesota wild are now five points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference after getting an important 4-3 win at home on Sunday over the visiting San Jose Sharks. Jed Ortmeyer scored his first goal of the NHL season with just over four minutes to go, and that was enough for Minnesota to hold on for the win. He was assisted on the goal by Jared Spurgeon.

Matt Cullen's 14th goal of the season tied the game at three apiece a little over a minute before Ortmeyer netted the game winner. Nick Schultz also scored his first goal of the season, with his coming in the second period. Cal Clutterbuck had Minnesota's first goal on the night early int he first period, and it was his 14th of the season.

Niklas Backstro saved 10 shots on goal in the third period as he gave up only a goal to Brent Burns early in the period as the Wild hung on.
