The Dallas Stars continued their winning ways on Tuesday night by giving the Minnesota Wild their seventh loss in their last eight games, 1-0.
Jamie Benn scored his 21st goal of the season for the Stars at the 3:46 mark in the third period, scoring the only goal that would be needed for Dallas to win their sixth straight game and tenth in their last 11.
Minnesota put the same number of shots on net as the red-hot Stars (25), but the extra save Kari Lehtonen made proved to be the difference. No discredit to Lehtonen on the shutout, but it was the third time in the Wild's last four home games in which they have failed to put a puck in the net.
With 12 games remaining on the schedule, Minnesota needs a Dallas-like hot streak to make the playoffs, as they now sit 10 points out. They play next vs. Carolina on Saturday.
