Hurricanes Vs. Wild: Minnesota Tries To End Slump Against Carolina

The Wild are rested and desperate for a win.

The Minnesota Wild continue looking for a spark to put a positive spin on the end of the season when they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon.

The Wild have lost seven of their last eight games including a 1-0 shutout-loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Minnesota has had three full days off to rest and prepare to take on the Hurricanes who arrive in Minnesota after an impressive 2-0 win on Thursday over St. Louis as goaltender Cam Ward shutout the NHL's top team.

The Wild have been dealing with several injuries of late including top goaltender Niklas Backstrom who practiced on Friday will remain sidelined along with backup Josh Harding which means rookie Matt Hackett will be back in the net. The Wild could get a boost with the return of center and team captain Mikko Koivu who appears ready to return from a shoulder injury.

Saturday's game starts at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time and will air on Fox Sports North.
