Matt Hackett will earn his second consecutive start in goal for the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night against the Colorado Avalanche, according to Michael Russo of The Star Tribune.
Hackett, 22, is playing in place of Niklas Backstrom, the Wild's starting goaltender who is out with a strained groin. In his six appearances this season, Hackett has allowed four goals and boasts a save percentage of .971. On Sunday, Hackett allowed two goals in a 2-0 loss to Colorado.
The Wild play the Avalanche Tuesday night at 9 p.m. at the Target Center in Denver. Minnesota is 3-5-2 in its last 10 games, while Colorado is 6-4. Minnesota has lost four consecutive games, but leads the season series against Colorado, 3-2. The Wild are now 28-28-10.
