The NFL has announced that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss has been fined $25,000 for failing to cooperate with the media according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune’s Chip Scoggins on Twitter. Scoggins reports that the league said Moss was “in violation of NFL policy, his player contract, and the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement.”

Moss, who was acquired mid-season in a trade with the New England Patriots, should have been fined quite awhile ago according to Gregg Rosenthal of ProFootballTalk.

There are probably reporters in New England wondering why this didn’t happen sooner. Moss’ silence with the Vikings got more attention, but he went long stretches with the Patriots where he didn’t talk to anyone either in group settings.

That’s too bad, because Moss always has something interesting to say.

It is a bit interesting that both this fine and the $35,000 Brad Childress was issued earlier in the week could have been easily avoided, albeit by doing opposite things.

If you haven’t heard yet, Randy Moss was re-acquired by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this week. Also, the Minnesota Twins are in the playoffs, the Minnesota Wild have began their season and the Minnesota Timberwolves are undefeated (in the preseason).

Now that everyone is all caught up on Minnesota sports, the top ESPN headline is that Moss practiced today and, well, the Vikings are happy about it according to the Star Tribune.

Moss began practice by having a brief conversation with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell off to the side. He joined the wide receivers group after early special teams drills and you could tell wide receivers coach George Stewart was more than excited.

Stewart bounced up and down as Moss jogged across the practice field to join his position group. Moss caught passes mainly from Brett Favre through individual drills. Several times Moss chatted with the other receivers before a rep about how the Vikings run certain routes.

Good to know that Moss and Favre are working on their chemistry together.

“In the second half, you could tell he was putting his foot on the brake,” said the Jets’ star cornerback, looking forward to facing the Minnesota Vikings Monday night. “I mean, everybody knows that’s Randy. Sometimes he plays 100 percent, sometimes he doesn’t.”

“You can tell, you can see the effort,” Revis said. “Playing football, you can see the body language and effort of people. If a guy’s going hard or a guy is hesitant … that’s the way football is, the truth comes out. You could see it in that game.”

Receiver Randy Moss and New England Patriots quarterbacks coach Bill O’Brien were involved in a heated exchange at halftime of the team’s victory Monday over the Miami Dolphins, according to player sources.

The locker-room exchange, described as an “outburst” by one player, came two days before the Patriots traded Moss to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2011 third-round draft choice, and could have contributed to the team’s decision to make the deal.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter. . .who may have actually been up all night covering this thing. . .even though Jay Glazer of Fox sports had the story first. . .unless you count Bill Simmons, who. . .you know, never mind, let’s start over.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter just put this on his Twitter page:

Trade is done: Randy Moss to Minnesota for a third-round pick. Details on ESPN’s Sportscenter at 9 a.m.

To borrow a famous phrase. . .

And since I really can’t add a whole heck of a lot beyond what’s in the title there, let me just reiterate what Adam Schefter put on his Twitter page about 20 minutes ago.

Rumors have been flying through the interwebs fast and furious for the past four or five hours now since Bill Simmons “broke” this story, and Adam Schefter of ESPN may have just brought it to a head on his Twitter page.

The Minnesota Vikings passing attack has looked nothing like it used to this season, but Jay Glazer is reporting that it could be receiving a big boost soon.

Yes, vikes and pats have been working on trade that sends randy moss to vikes and r very clode but can't be done until vikes and moss work out new contract, whcih they r working on.

Ignore the myriad of typos - I am sure he was typing faster than normal trying to be the first to break the news after ESPN's Adam Schefter took credit for breaking a different NFL trade earlier in the day that Glazer reported first - but this is definitely a doozy.

Moss played the first seven years of his career in Minnesota before recently starring for the New England Patriots after a two-year stint with the Oakland Raiders ended less than stellar.

This season, Moss has nine receptions for 139 yards and three touchdowns, but he was targeted just once in the Patriots' Monday Night Football victory over the Miami Dolphins yesterday.
