(Sports Network) – The Vikings scored two touchdowns in the final 3:34 of regulation to force overtime, and Ryan Longwell booted a 35- yarder 5:18 into the extra session to give Minnesota a dramatic 27-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals at the Metrodome.

Brett Favre, in his record 293nd straight start, threw for an eye-popping 446 yards with two interceptions and two touchdowns, including a game-tying 25- yard strike to Visanthe Shiancoe with 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Adrian Peterson had 144 yards from scrimmage and scored on the ground and through the air for the Vikings (3-5), who had dropped two straight and were in the midst of endless speculation regarding the future of head coach Brad Childress.

Derek Anderson got the start over Max Hall and played mistake-free football for Arizona (3-5), completing 15-of-26 passes for 179 yards with a touchdown to rookie Andre Roberts. Larry Fitzgerald amassed a season-high 107 yards on seven receptions for the Cardinals, losers of three straight.

Reports of the death of the Minnesota Vikings. . .including this one here. . .have been greatly exaggerated.

After holding the Cardinals to another three and out, the Vikings moved the ball 77 yards in just a minute and 57 seconds to tie the game. The scoring strike was a 25-yard rainbow from Favre to Visanthe Shiancoe.

And in this, his 293rd consecutive start, Brett Favre has thrown for 424 yards. . .a career high.

With 27 seconds left in the game, it looks like we may be heading to overtime, as this one is now tied at 24.

After being stopped on their previous drive, the Vikings managed to keep the Cardinals pinned down and forced another punt to give the Vikings a start in Arizona territory.

From there, the Vikings score quickly, requiring only 3 plays to go 40 yards and get into the end zone to make the score 24-17. The touchdown run for Adrian Peterson was from 4 yards out.

With 3:34 left in the game, the Vikings trail 24-17 to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Vikings once again put together a very good drive, and once again failed to convert on a fourth and goal play from the 1.

Brett Favre faked a handoff to Adrian Peterson going to the left, then rolled out to the right and appeared to have enough space to run the ball into the end zone, but tried to force it in and the pass landed incomplete. The pass was intended for Jeff Dugan, of all people.

With 6:18 left in the Vikings’ season, effectively, the Vikings trail 24-10.

I’m not sure if this team has completely quit, but if they haven’t, I’m sure that time is fast approaching.

The Vikings appeared to be on the verge of a touchdown, but on a second and goal play, Bryant McKinnie completely whiffed on Joey Porter, allowing him to hit Brett Favre as he threw and the pass wound up in the hands of Cardinal safety Rashad Johnson.

The Cardinals then marched the ball most of the way down the field, but had to settle for a Jay Feely field goal from 22 yards out.

The Vikings’ 2010 season is circling the bowl, as the Cardinals lead 24-10 with 12 minutes and change remaining in the football game.

The momentum is now, firmly, in the corner of the Arizona Cardinals.

Percy Harvin took the second-half kickoff for the Vikings and appeared to have been tackled after a normal return. Unfortunately, just before he went down, the ball came out of his hands, and was recovered by the Cardinals. Michael Adams of Arizona then took the ball into the end zone for a 28-yard touchdown return, and the Vikings are reeling.

Just after the opening kickoff of the third quarter, it’s 20-10 in favor of the Cardinals, with the extra point pending.

The Cardinals had 39 yards of offense just before their most recent drive. So, it only makes sense that they took the ball 81 yards for a touchdown in order to take their first lead of the afternoon.

The Vikings had the Cardinals backed up in a third and 19 situation, but Derek Anderson found Larry Fitzgerald. . .who, for some reason, was wide open. . .for a 30-yard gain. Shortly thereafter, Anderson found Andre Roberts for a 30-yard touchdown, the first of Roberts’ career.

So, it looks like the Cardinals will take the lead into halftime by a score of 14-10. The chants of “fire Childress” are getting louder as we move along.

The Vikings took advantage of good field position again, and looked to be on track to get into the end zone, but had to settle for a field goal from the automatic Ryan Longwell.

The Vikings appeared to have a touchdown on a second down play on a swing pass to Toby Gerhart. Unfortunately, Gerhart tripped over the 7-yard line. . .that must have been it, because there wasn’t anybody else nearby. . .and didn’t get into the end zone. Adrian Peterson got stopped on third down, and the Vikings settled for a 21-yarder from Longwell.

With 6:22 left before halftime, the Vikings lead the Cardinals by a score of 10-7. Now, let’s see if they can cover the ensuing kickoff.
