(Sports Network) – Kevin Love scored 20 of his 28 points in the first half and the Minnesota Timberwolves built a huge lead on the way to an easy 129-95 win over Cleveland.

Love also grabbed 19 rebounds and Wesley Johnson scored 20 points for the Timberwolves, who snapped a six-game losing streak with their first win since Nov. 17.

Minnesota set a franchise record with 18 three-pointers in the game, including five from Love.

Cleveland, playing for the first time since being thumped by LeBron James and Miami on Thursday, got 18 points from Ramon Sessions and 17 from Antawn Jamison — both off the bench.

The Cavaliers lost their third straight and for the seventh time in nine games.

(Sports Network) – Tim Duncan scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 107-101 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at AT&T Center.

Tony Parker scored 20 and Richard Jefferson added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who improved to 13-0 when scoring over 100 points this season.

Manu Ginobili added 16 points and was 13-of-13 from the line, while George Hill supplied 20 points in a reserve role for San Antonio, which began its six-game home stand with a win.

Michael Beasley scored a game-high 28 points and Kevin Love added 25 and 18 rebounds for Minnesota, which has dropped six straight.

Luke Ridnour and Corey Brewer both finished with 14 points in defeat.

Down 86-71 entering the fourth, the Spurs used a 12-3 run in the opening four minutes of the quarter to trim the Minnesota lead to six.

The Timberwolves’ lead fluctuated around six until the final four minutes when San Antonio used two Jefferson free throws and a Hill fastbreak layup to cut the deficit to 97-95. Wanting to stop the surge, Minnesota quickly called a timeout.

The Timberwolves were able to hold off the Spurs until they sank four consecutive free throws inside three minutes — two apiece from Ginobili and Hill — to tie the game at 99.

After both teams missed multiple shots, Ginobili was sent to the line with 1:13 left with a chance to put San Antonio ahead. He converted on both.

Jefferson’s dunk with 47.1 ticks remaining put San Antonio up 103-99 and from there all the Timberwolves could manage was two Love free throws. Ginobili made two more from the charity stripe and Antonio McDyess added a driving layup with eight seconds left to account for the final margin.

The game was tied at 25 after a back-and-forth first quarter.

Beasley and Love both finished the second quarter with eight points as Minnesota held a slim 54-53 lead at the break.

The Spurs took the lead when Tony Parker opened the third with a short jumper and three-point play conversion, and after Minnesota tied the game with two Ridnour free-throws, the teams traded the lead for the next 5 1/2 minutes.

A Ridnour jumper with 2:22 left put Minnesota up 75-68. The shot started a 13-3 run to end the quarter — that included seven points from Brewer. The Timberwolves took an 86-71 lead into the fourth.

Game Notes

The Spurs have won 23 of the last 26 meetings…San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich was ejected with 1:10 left in the third after collecting consecutive technical fouls…The Spurs scored 23 points on 17 Timberwolves turnovers…Minnesota is now 1-10 on the road this season…Despite the loss, Minnesota controlled the rebounding margin, 59-37.

(Sports Network) – The San Antonio Spurs will try to continue their recent mastery of the Minnesota Timberwolves when the two Western Conference inhabitants square off tonight in the Alamo City.

San Antonio won the first meeting, 113-109, in overtime last Wednesday in the Twin Cities and is unbeaten in the past 13 meetings between the teams. The Spurs have won 22 of the last 25 games against the Timberwolves, who’ll try to end a 12-game slide as the visitor in this series.

The Spurs are kicking off a six-game homestand tonight versus the Wolves, Hornets, Warriors, Hawks, Blazers and Bucks and are 7-2 as the host. They have split their last four games since a 12-game winning streak and dropped a 90-85 decision to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday from Staples Center. George Hill had 17 points to lead San Antonio, while Tim Duncan scored only eight in the loss.

“We couldn’t get anything to go down,” said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

Manu Ginobili and Richard Jefferson scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, for San Antonio, which is still a dominant 15-3 on the season.

Minnesota looks to snap a five-game losing streak tonight and suffered a 100-86 setback in Dallas on Wednesday.

Michael Beasley scored 16 points and Kevin Love added 12 and 15 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who shot 39 percent from the floor and committed 17 turnovers.

“We turned the ball over way too much,” said Timberwolves head coach Kurt Rambis. “When the game ,in the third quarter, got into the 10 point range our guys still had their heads down. That was a little bit of a disappointment.”

Darko Milicic scored 12 points and grabbed eight boards in the loss.

The Timberwolves are winless in their last four road games and 1-9 outside of the Target Center this season.

(Sports Network) – Shawn Marion scored 16 points to lead a balanced Dallas Mavericks offense in a 100-86 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at American Airline Center.

J.J. Barea scored 14 and both Dirk Nowitzki and Caron Butler finished with 10 points for the Mavericks, who have won seven straight.

Tyson Chandler added nine points and a game-high 18 rebounds for Dallas, which gave head coach Rick Carlisle his 400th career victory, 119 of which have come with the Mavericks.

“(The low post) was the point of emphasis for the game.” said Carlisle “Everybody was consciousness about keeping a body on their man, finding out where Love was on the floor. And I think he still had 15 rebounds. I think the decisive point of the game was that we did outrebound them and we didn’t give them a lot of extra possessions, which is key.”

Michael Beasley scored 16 points and Kevin Love added 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have dropped five straight.

Darko Milicic scored 12 and grabbed eight boards while Wayne Ellington added 13 points in defeat.

The Mavericks only made 36 percent of their shots in the first quarter, but went a perfect 8-of-8 from the line and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc to take a 29-20 lead after 12 minutes of play.

Barea scored nine points in the second as the Mavericks took a 55-43 lead into the locker room.

Chandler connected on two free throws at 8:14 of the third to extend the Mavericks lead to 16 at 63-47. Kevin Love then led a small Minnesota charge toward the end of the quarter, with his short hook-shot putting the game at 75-62.

But Dallas ended the quarter on an 8-2 run — keyed by two Brian Cardinal three-pointers — to extend its lead to 83-64 heading into the fourth.

Jason Terry, who finished with 12 points and seven assists, knocked down a three-pointer with 6:41 remaining to put Dallas up by 24 at 95-71, their largest lead of the game.

The Mavericks’ lead remained above 20 until Beasley made two free throws at 2:17 to put the game at 98-79. Steve Novak then made a short jump-shot for Dallas to extend the lead to 21. The Timberwolves ended the game on a 7-0 run, including five points from Kosta Koufos, to account for the final margin.

“We turned the ball over way too much,” said Timberwolves head coach Kurt Rambis. “When the game ,in the third quarter, got into the 10 point range our guys still had their heads down. That was a little bit of a disappointment.”

Game Notes

This was the first of a Texas two-game tour for the Timberwolves, who will face the Spurs on Friday…The Timberwolves scored 40 of their points in the paint, while Dallas got 22…Both teams made 18-of-23 from the foul line…Haywood finished with seven points and 10 rebounds for the Mavericks.

(Sports Network) – The reeling Minnesota Timberwolves will open up a tough two-game tour of Texas tonight when they visit Big D to take on a red-hot Dallas Mavericks club.

The Timberwolves dropped their fourth straight game on Saturday when Dorell Wright scored a career-high 30 points and set a franchise record with nine three-pointers as Golden State topped Minnesota, 104-94, at the Target Center.

Michael Beasley led the Timberwolves with 28 points and Kevin Love filled the stat sheet with 21 points and 22 rebounds for Minnesota, which has dropped six of seven overall.

Luke Ridnour added 16 points and Darko Milicic contributed nine points and seven rebounds in defeat.

“[Golden State] shot really well,” said Minnesota forward Anthony Tolliver. “That’s the danger in playing a team like that. They moved the ball around really well and they made the shots they needed. We just have to be better at making adjustments individually and as a team.”

The Wolves, who are just 1-8 on the road, will also face the 15-2 Spurs in San Antonio on Friday.

The Mavs, who will be finishing a three-game homestand tonight, won their sixth consecutive contest on Monday when Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 20 points and Caron Butler had 19 as Dallas topped Houston, 101-91.

Shawn Marion added 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Mavericks won for the 10th time in their last 12. Nowitzki also had 10 rebounds in the win and Jason Kidd scored eight points with 11 assists.

“Everybody is coming into their own a little bit right now and we’re really supporting each other and we’re holding each other accountable when we need to,” Marion said of his team’s chemistry. “We’re playing as a complete team right now and we’re competing at a high level.”

Dallas has dominated the series recently, winning two straight and 15 of the last 16 contests with the lone Minnesota win in that span coming back in February of last season, a 117-108 triumph in Big D.

The up and coming Minnesota Timberwolves still aren't winning a ton of games at this point, but the youngest team in the league is proving to be a pretty tough out for anyone they tangle with, and are certainly getting better as the season progresses. In this post-Thanksgiving week, they'll have three more opportunities to put a couple more notches in the win column, but two of those three will be part of a Texas two-step on the road before returning home for the weekend.

The Timberwolves won't play for the first time this week until Wednesday, December 1, when they take a trip to Dallas to battle the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks have a big battle on their hands in a highly competitive Southwest division with San Antonio and New Orleans, and will be quite a challenge for the young Timberwolves. Their 12-4 record is the third best in the Western Conference at the moment (in terms of winning percentage), but is only good enough for a tie for second place in their division. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM Central time in Dallas, and you'll be able to watch the game on Fox Sports North, or listen on the radio on KFAN.

The second part of the road trip will be a trip to San Antonio on Friday, December 3, to take on the Spurs, who are currently sitting atop the Western Conference with a 14-2 record. Just a few days ago, the Spurs came to Minnesota and the Wolves led by as many as 21 points, but wound up squandering the lead before ultimately losing in overtime. Will Minnesota have better luck against the Spurs this time around? The game is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 PM Central time, and there won't be any television coverage for this one, but you'll still be able to hear it on the radio on KFAN.

The week for the Timberwolves will conclude on Saturday, December 4 as they play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs certainly haven't had the easiest time of it since LeBron James. . .say it along with me. . .took his talents to South Beach, but they haven't completely fallen apart, either, with a record hovering right around .500. Cleveland's only trip to Minneapolis this year will get started at 7:30 PM Central time, and once again there will be no television coverage for this one. You'll have to stick with the good folks at KFAN for your Timberwolves coverage.

And that's your look ahead at the week in Minnesota Timberwolves basketball. Be sure to keep checking us out at SBNation Minnesota for all of the previews, recaps, and news on the Timberwolves that you're looking for.
