In one of the more thrilling Timberwolves games in recent memory, they held off the Golden State Warriors in a game that was truly a roller coaster in every sense of the word.

Things looked a little bleak for the Timberwolves early, as they allowed Golden State to put up a whopping 41 points in the first quarter of play and trailed by nine going into the second quarter. Minnesota started to heat up in the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors 37-32 to go into halftime trailing 73-69. The third quarter was all Minnesota, as they outscored the Warriors by a 19-point margin and took a 15-point lead into the final quarter of play. Golden State, to their credit, mounted a furious comeback in the fourth, but it ultimately wasn't enough as the Wolves held on for the three-point victory.

Kevin Love had an absolutely monstrous game for Minnesota, putting up 37 points and pulling down an incredible 23 rebounds. This is the fourth time this season that Love has put together a performance of at least 30 points and 20 rebounds. . .this is even more incredible when you realize that that's three more 30-20 performances than the rest of the National Basketball Association combined.

Michael Beasley chipped in 25 points and nine rebounds, and rookie Wesley Johnson threw in 17 for the victors.

For Golden State, guard Stephen Curry had a career-high 11 rebounds to go along with his 33 points, Dorell Wright had 26, and David Lee chipped in 20, as did Monta Ellis.

The win snaps a seven-game losing streak for the Timberwolves. Minnesota will next take to the court on Tuesday when they host the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are on another extended losing streak, having dropped seven consecutive games and collecting even more ping pong balls for the NBA's Draft Lottery this June, but most of us would like to see them start putting some numbers in the W column the rest of the way, starting with tonight against the Golden State Warriors.

Minnesota hasn't had any real success this year against the Warriors, having dropped the previous two match-ups between these two teams by an average of about ten points.

The folks over at Canis Hoopus have taken a different approach to the Wolves in their game preview for today, giving each player goals to attain in today's match-up against the Warriors, as well as for the rest of the season. Be sure to check them out.

You can follow the action of today's game on Fox Sports North if your cable system provides it, or listen to the game on KFAN-AM 1130 if your television provider doesn't give you FSN. We'll be back for the recap after things are all said and done at the Target Center.

We'll have more on Kevin Love's double-double streak in the next day or so, but I wanted to site the post-game recap from Canis Hoopus, because Stop-n-Pop pretty much perfectly summarizes what many Wolves fans have got to be feeling right now.

The Wolves foul in the penalty. They have no chemistry. They make fundamental mistakes. They turn the ball over at an alarming clip. They run ridiculous rotations in an insane system. There is nothing to cheer about for this team except Crunch's birthday and awesome 1/2 time show where he destroyed the Phoenix Gorilla. The double-double streak is a cruel joke at this point; no better than last year's consecutive 3-pointer-run by Corey Brewer. It's crazy. The games blend into one another just like another double-double. They're meaningless and indistinguishable. They're led by a guy who doesn't know what he's doing.

David Kahn has said that the Timberwolves are "done rebuilding." Well, if that's the case, then this team needs to find themselves another architect, because the one they currently have is awful.

Ponder this for a second. . .in the NBA standings for this season, the Timberwolves have the second-worst record in the NBA. The team that has the worst record in the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers, set a record for the longest losing streak in league history this year when they dropped twenty-six consecutive games. Between November 30 and February 9, the Cavaliers had a record of 1-36. They won one game in the month of December, and none in the month of January.

The Minnesota Timberwolves only have two more victories than the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2010-2011 season. Minnesota is currently 13-46. Cleveland is 11-47. There's a chance that, by the end of this season, the Minnesota Timberwolves could end up with a worse record than a team that had a stretch where they went 1-36.

Minnesota basketball fans deserve better than David Kahn and Kurt Rambis. Sadly, I'm not sure if anyone knows whether or not Glen Taylor gives enough of a damn about this team any more to do anything about it.

Kevin Love will attempt to take sole possession of the longest double-double streak of the last 30 seasons when the Wolves take on the New Orleans Hornets tonight at the Target Center.

Love is currently tied with Moses Malone with 44 consecutive double-doubles, a record Malone set back in the 1982-1983 NBA season. Love recently said that the streak is becoming a distraction.

Love said he knew he was approaching another double-double. His streak dates to a scoreless game against the Lakers on Nov. 19.

"Everybody in the whole crowd was yelling it," he said. "In some ways, I was like, 'OK. I'd love to tie this thing.' But in a lot of ways, I was like, 'I just wish this thing would end so I could go out there and just start playing again.' In some ways, it's become a distraction and in some ways, I just need to get past it. It's part of the maturity process, getting past it and keep playing."

Well, I suppose if the streak was a distraction, he could have just not gotten a double-double in one of those games. Honestly, if he gave a less than maximum effort one night, it would be tough to distinguish him from the rest of his teammates for the better part of this season.

The Wolves have had a decent amount of success against the Hornets this season, winning both of the previous meetings between these two teams. Minnesota will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak against New Orleans tonight.

Tip-off for this one is set for 7:00 PM Central time. The television coverage will be handled by My29, and the radio side of things will be handled by KFAN-AM 1130. Or, you could skip all that and just head straight to the best source for Timberwolves coverage on the internet, Canis Hoopus.

The Minnesota Timberwolves lost their sixth straight game, as the Memphis Grizzlies beat the homestanding Timberwolves 104-95 in a game that, in all honestly, wasn't that close.

While new acquisition Anthony Randolph looked on from the bench. . .a position he found himself in all night in his first game as a Timberwolf. . .the Timberwolves got out to a quick 2-0 lead on their first possession thanks to a Darko Milicic. That was the only lead that the Timberwolves had on the evening, as they gave up the next ten points and really never got all that close after that.

The Grizzlies got 24 points from forward Zach Randolph, who outplayed Kevin Love for the second time in a month. Mike Conley complemented that with 22 of his own, and Sam Young and Tony Allen each contributed 16 for the victors.

For Minnesota, Wayne Ellington led the way with 16 points. Luke Ridnour contributed 15, and Kevin Love extended his double-double streak to 44 with 15 points and 11 rebounds of his own.

The Timberwolves will next take the court on Friday when they host the New Orleans Hornets at the Target Center, a team that they've had surprising success against this season. Who knows. . .maybe Anthony Randolph will even play on Friday. Stay tuned, and we'll be sure to let you know!

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be playing their first post-All Star home game tonight when they host the Memphis Grizzlies at the Target Center. Unfortunately, whether at home or on the road, the Wolves haven't had a whole lot of success against Memphis thus far this season.

The Timberwolves have played the Grizzlies on two other occasions this season, and Memphis has triumphed by an average of 19 points in those two contests. The Grizzlies got a 20-point victory in Memphis back on Oct. 30, and they also beat the Timberwolves in Minnesota on Feb. 2, but that was "only" an 18-point victory.

I, personally, have not seen any word yet as to the status of newly acquired forward Anthony Randolph, who the Wolves acquired as a part of the blockbuster trade involving Carmelo Anthony. Michael Beasley returned last night for Minnesota against the Milwaukee Bucks and let the team in scoring in their losing effort.

Kevin Love kept his double-double streak alive against the Bucks with 20 points and 17 caroms, giving him 43 consecutive games of at least ten points and ten rebounds. He's fast approaching the mark set by Moses Malone in the 1982-83 season, when the legendary Malone had 44 consecutive double-doubles.

Tonight's game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. Central time at the Target Center, and you can follow the game by either watching it on Fox Sports North, or listening to it on KFAN-AM 1130.

The Minnesota Timberwolves had hoped to get the second half of the season off to a positive start tonight in Milwaukee, but it was not to be as the home team took this contest by a score of 94-88.

The Wolves didn't have an answer tonight for Milwaukee point guard Brandon Jennings, who led all scorers tonight with 27 points, and also dished out seven assists in the Bucks' victory. Michael Beasley returned for the Timberwolves tonight, and led the team in scoring with 21 points. Bench play was a huge part of how this game turned out, as the Milwaukee bench outscored the Timberwolves' bench by a margin of 33 to 16, thanks in no small part to Corey Maggette's 20 points.

Kevin Love put together his 42nd straight double-double for the Timberwolves, registering 20 points and 17 rebounds. He is now three double-doubles short of breaking the post-merger record for consecutive double-doubles set by Moses Malone in the 1982-83 season.

The loss for the Wolves gives them a season split with the Bucks, as Minnesota had won the first meeting between these two teams earlier in the season in Minneapolis.

No rest for the Wolves, as they'll turn around to play again tomorrow night at the Target Center against the Memphis Grizzlies. We'll have a preview up here for you tomorrow. . .in the meantime, be sure to check out the conversation about this evening's game over at Canis Hoopus.

Two relatively cold teams are going to be getting together this evening at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, as the Minnesota Timberwolves take the worst record of the Western Conference to Wisconsin to battle the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks lost eight of their last ten prior to the All-Star break, yet still only trail the Indiana Pacers by 3.5 games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Timberwolves have lost their last four and 13 of their last 16 overall. Minnesota has a worse record than every NBA team that doesn't play its home games in Cleveland.

The Wolves will be without Jonny Flynn for tonight. . .which most would hardly see as detrimental. . .as he has a hip injury that has caused the team to shut him down for a while. They could also continue to be without forward Michael Beasley, who has missed the last five games with an ankle injury.

As always, Wolves fans will be keeping an eye on forward Kevin Love to see if he can keep his double-double streak going. He now has 42 games in a row with double digits in points and rebounds, and will attempt to keep that going tonight against the Bucks.

Tip-off from the Bradley Center tonight is set for 7:00 PM Central tonight, and you can either watch the action on Fox Sports North or listen to the game on KFAN-AM 1130.
