If this isn't the ugliest game in recent Gophers history, with the possible exception of the 55-0 throttling the Gophers took to close the Metrodome against Iowa a couple of years back, I'd like someone to nominate a couple other candidates.

After a couple of Michigan field goals extended the Wolverines' lead to 51-0, it looked like the Gophers may have actually had a promising drive going, marching the ball all the way down to the Michigan 17-yard line. However, one play after picking up an impressive 28-yard gain, true freshman running back David Cobb put the ball on the turf for the Gophers. The bouncing ball was picked up by Michigan's Courtney Avery, who sped down the left sideline for an 83-yard fumble return and another Michigan touchdown. The extra point made the score 58-0 in favor of the Wolverines.

The Michigan defense has not shut anybody out since 2007, when they held the Notre Dame Fighting Irish scoreless. Now they're on pace to register the biggest shutout victory in the history of the Little Brown Jug rivalry.

With little time remaining in the fourth quarter of this one, the Michigan Wolverines lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers by a score of 58-0.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers actually accomplished something that they had been unable to do in the first half of their game against the Michigan Wolverines. . .they forced Michigan to punt.

However, on Michigan's second possession of the second half, they put things back to normal, driving for their sixth touchdown of the afternoon and extending their lead over Minnesota to 45-0.

It took the Wolverines just five plays to cover 54 yards on their most recent drive. They were assisted by a roughing the passer penalty that added more yardage to an 18-yard pass from Denard Robinson to Kevin Koger and put the Wolverines inside the Minnesota 10-yard line. Two plays later, Fitzgerald Toussaint took a handoff into the end zone from a yard out for another Michigan score.

With approximately eight minutes left in the third quarter of play, the Minnesota Golden Gophers trail the Michigan Wolverines by a score of 45-0 in the battle for the Little Brown Jug.

Even when the Minnesota Golden Gophers get some positive momentum going, they do something to shoot themselves in the foot.

The Gophers put together their best offensive drive of the afternoon, garnering two first downs in the same drive for the first time today and getting close to the midfield stripe, but a fumble by Brandon Green gave the ball back to Michigan. They wasted little time in converting for another touchdown, and we go into halftime at the Big House with the Gophers trailing the Wolverines in the battle for the Little Brown Jug, 38-0.

Michigan took just 2:22 to move 56 yards in ten plays, concluding the drive with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Denard Robinson to Kevin Koger.

At halftime, the Wolverines have 384 yards of total offense. The Golden Gophers have 69.

The Wolverines have just dominated this afternoon against the Golden Gophers, as a 38-0 halftime lead all but ensures that the Little Brown Jug will be staying in Ann Arbor. The Gophers, on the other hand, are well on their way towards potentially suffering one of the worst losses in school history.

The Gophers have held the Wolverines to a field goal! The Gophers have held the Wolverines to a field goal!

Yes, it's not much, but at this point, any victory will be accepted by this team.

After Dan Orseske hit a 14-yard punt after the Gophers' latest three-and-out, the Wolverines started out on the Minnesota 37-yard line. A long TD run for the Wolverines was called back by a hold, but that was cancelled out by a pass interference penalty on Minnesota.

However, in a development that we haven't seen all day, the Gopher defense stiffened up a little bit, holding the Wolverines out of the end zone for the first time today. Michigan kicker Brendan Gibbons converted on a 25-yard field goal, and Michigan increased their lead over Minnesota to 31-0.

With time winding down in the first half, it's obvious that the Jug is staying in Ann Arbor this year. . .it's just a matter of what numbers get painted on the side. Right now, the Minnesota Golden Gophers trail the Michigan Wolverines, 31-0.

Coming into this afternoon's game, Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson was completing 48% of his passes on the season.

This afternoon against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, he's 10-for-10, and has just put the Wolverines into the end zone again.

The Gopher defense once again just got absolutely torched on this latest drive by Michigan, starting off with a 24-yard rush by Fitzgerald Toussiant to put the ball into Minnesota territory again. A couple of plays later, Robinson took the snap, rolled out to the right, and looped one to running back Vincent Smith in the left flat. Smith had a convoy in front of him, and went 28 yards basically untouched for another Michigan touchdown.

The Wolverines' latest scoring drive went 69 yards in just four plays, taking 2:25 off of the clock.

With nine and a half minutes left in the first half, the Gophers are getting destroyed by the Wolverines in the battle for the Little Brown Jug to the tune of 28-0.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are in big, big trouble at the Big House.

The Michigan Wolverines started their most recent drive with their worst field position of the day, beginning at their own 15-yard line. However, that didn't make a whole lot of difference, as the Wolverines continue to shred the Minnesota defense like tissue paper.

Michigan used a nice combination of running and passing to move the ball down the field, and got down to the Minnesota 17-yard line when the first quarter came to an end. On the first play of the second quarter, Michigan running back Vincent Smith took a pitch from Denard Robinson, and instead of running, lofted a pass to Drew Dileo for a 17-yard touchdown pass.

As we get into the third quarter of play, the Wolverines have stopped the Gophers again, and will take possession at their own 31. The Gophers actually picked up their first first down of the afternoon on the drive, but didn't do a whole lot more than that.

The first drive for the Minnesota Golden Gophers went the wrong direction, thanks to a sack of Max Shortell and a false start penalty. Dan Orseske blasted a 64-yard punt to try to pin the Wolverines back, starting them out at their own 25-yard line.

Ultimately, it didn't matter.

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson started the drive by looping a 28-yard pass to Stephen Hopkins to put the Wolverines in Minnesota territory, and the Gophers didn't put up much more resistance from there. Ultimately, on 3rd-and-3 at the Minnesota 9-yard line, Robinson called his own number, taking a quarterback draw into the end zone for Michigan's second touchdown of the afternoon. The drive went 75 yards in six plays, taking just 3:01 to accomplish.

We knew that Robinson's ridiculous athleticism would be hard for the Gophers to handle, but they have put up absolutely no resistance through Michigan's first two drives.

With six minutes left to go in the first quarter of play, the Michigan Wolverines lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the battle for the Little Brown Jug, 14-0.

If the Minnesota Golden Gophers' defense looks like this all day, things are going to get really ugly, really quickly at the Big House.

Minnesota won the toss and deferred to the second half, so Michigan took possession first, starting at their own 20-yard line. The Gophers actually managed to force the Wolverines into a third-down situation early in the drive, but Denard Robinson picked up the first down with his legs to keep the drive going. On the next play, Fitzgerald Toussiant rumbled for 35 yards, and Robinson picked up 18 more shortly thereafter to put the Wolverines on Minnesota's doorstep.

Vincent Smith finished the drive by taking a handoff from Robinson and going three yards, untouched, into the end zone for the touchdown. Brendan Gibbons converted the extra point for Michigan, and the Wolverines have a 7-0 lead.

We're only about three and a half minutes into this one from Michigan Stadium, and true rookie Max Shortell will lead the Gophers on to the field. Shortell is the first true freshman to start at quarterback for the Gophers since Rickey Foggie back in 1984.
