The Minnesota Wild were hoping that karma would be on their side during Tuesday night's NHL Draft Lottery considering they continued to try and win rather than tank to end the season. It didn't help, however, as Minnesota's favorite professional hockey team stayed in its projected seventh slot for the annual hockey entry draft.

The Wild had a 4.7 percent chance of moving up to get the top pick but, unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. That shouldn't be a surprise considering how unlucky the Wild were following their hot start, but it likely is quite disappointing considering the team could use the sort of boost a top pick would bring.

The Edmonton Oilers won the lottery, by the way, despite having the second best chance at 18.8 percent. The Columbus Blue Jackets, who had a 48.2 percent chance at being gifted the top pick as the 30th-ranked team in the League, will now pick second overall in the Draft. Rounding out the top five are the Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs.
