Jason Marquis was designated for assignment on Monday night, according to reports.

It appears as though the Jason Marquis experiment is over in Minnesota. On Monday night, it was reported by Jon Morosi of Fox Sports that the Minnesota Twins have decided to designate the 33-year old right-handed pitcher for assignment.

Marquis was brought into Minnesota on a one-year, $3-million contract after an 8-6 season last year during his time with the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Now, after three straight performances where he allowed five-or-more runs (including a terrible eight earned runs on eight hits in 1.2 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers last night), Marquis will be looking for employment else where.

He has a 2-4 record this season with an 8.47 ERA in 34 innings pitched over seven games. He has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 12-14, has hit three batters and allowed nine home runs.
